Ryan Gipson II (b. 2000, St. Louis, MO) is a Black American artist based in Chicago, IL.
“Through writing, filmmaking, and photography, my work reimagines history with fictional narrative and archives a journey of discovering self through the people and places I encounter. The goal of my work is to envision and document Black identities liberated from scrutiny, violence, and comparison by not treating them as character or subjects, but as powerful beings with sovereignty.” - ryan
He also is the co-founder of Five Dolla Cam, a community-arts grassroots organization that uplifts Black and Brown communities in St. Louis through free art workshops, annual group exhibitions, film festivals, and annual field days.
